REMINDER: CVC June 27th 2010 – CMHA Ride…

Jun 23rd, 2010 by AHutt | Comments Off

CVC Sunday Club Ride on 27th June 2010 will incorporate the 2nd Annual Community Bike Ride

We will be meeting, as usual:

27th June 2010, 8:45am
The Bean on Main/20th

However, should any of you wish to meet us at the ride start – it is at
“The east side of Central Park. Patterson just south of Kingsway. 1 minute from the Patterson sky train station” Please be there before 9:30am.

This awareness and fund raising event is organized in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association ( CMHA ).  Through our association with Chris and Jim Reynolds, we as a club are fortunate to receive sponsorship to promote awareness of the CMHA, and this event is our chance to show our own support for this extremely worthwhile organization.

CVC and the CMHA need a good turn out for this ride! Please make every effort to show up and help make the CVC yellow presence seen and felt on the day.

Individual donations to CMHA will be gratefully received at the ride, but CVC will be covering all entry fees via a group donation from the club funds.

Ride details can be found at: www.cmhacommunityride.ca

For this ride, we will participate in the 50km CMHA ride and after this we can choose to make the club ride longer should we so wish… (I understand Iain plans to lead the ride over on to the North Shore for some extra kms…)

See you all on Sunday…

CVC 2010 Kit On Its Way…

May 20th, 2010 by AHutt | 0

The long awaited arrival of the 2010 CVC Club Kit is almost here… Scott has received word from our Biemme distributor that the clothing is expected in Montreal, from Italy, today.

Allowing for customs clearance and the long weekend, we are hopeful that the kit will be with us here in Vancouver towards the end of next week.

Once it is here, further news will follow in regard to how we will be getting it out to all the members…

And for those of you that still owe money for either membership, or for extra clothing, it’ll be cash on delivery

CVC Sunday Club Rides – alternate Sundays, thru’ end Sept. 2010.

Place             : Bean Around The World ( Main & 20th )
Time              : 8:45am
Ride Leader : TBA
Ride Type     :  Steady paced, one group ride ( 80+kms).
Route            :  Announced on the day

*** Full fenders required if it’s wet on the road! ***

The Sunday Club rides will alternate each week with the Sunday Training rides – so one week Training ride, the next week a Club ride. The Club rides are aimed at being more recreational in nature. They will be steady pace and the group will ride together – no one will be left behind (a minimum fitness level is still expected of all participants ie: at present time riders should be able to ride for 3 hrs at around 26/27kph.)  The pace and distance of these rides will increase as the season progresses.

We have a number of new members this year and, being early season, everyone is currently at  varying levels of experience and fitness. Because of this, please expect the first few Sunday Club rides to be focused on practicing group riding, spinning the legs, getting some easy miles in and getting to know your new club members.

Hope to see you all out… and don’t forget *** extended fenders *** if it’s wet !

Reminder : all CVC members are asked to be prepared to lead one Sunday Club ride during the season.

Place             : Bean Around The World ( Main & 20th )

Time              : 8:45am

Ride Leader : Iain

Ride Type     :  Hard

*** Full fenders required if it’s wet on the road! ***

The Sunday Training rides will alternate each week with the Sunday Club rides – so one week Training ride, the next week a Club ride. The aim of the Training rides is to get CVC members “race-fit”. However, don’t be put off if you don’t intend to race, these rides are a great way to help you reach your potential on the bike…

Ride route details will be decided, as usual, by Iain, the ride leader, on Sunday.

Hope to see you all out… and don’t forget *** extended fenders ***  if it’s wet!
