Winter Rides

Jan 16th, 2012 by RLu | Comments Off

Traditionally CVC don’t have a scheduled organized weekend club rides in the winter months. However there are a few cvc members and friends who regularly meet up at Bean-Around-The-World coffee on 20th and Main St around(not time conscious) 9:00am every sunday. This is an open,non-club sanctioned ride and a chance to get to know some of the CVC regulars;where the pace at this of the year is normally slow to medium.Rides are weather dependent and it’s a common courtesy to have extended rear fender on your bike when riding in wet weather with this group.Riding etiquette will be enforced for group safety.Distance 70km ~ 100km.

Weather hasn’t been great lately but hopefully we get some good weather this week. Planning to have a club ride this weekend. Come out and join us at the Bean 9 AM on Sunday, January 15, 2012.

Sunday Club Ride

CVC Sunday Club Rides

( TBA )

Meet at : The Bean at Main & 20th
Time : 9:00 am
Dates :  Sundays

The CVC Sunday Club Rides run from Spring through to Fall on most Sundays (check the calendar on the website for dates). These are group club rides and as such are aimed at all CVC members. They run based on the philosophy  ofthe group that starts together, finishes together. That’s not to say that a certain level of fitness is not required. To enjoy these rides expect a ride speed averaging around 26kph and faster as the season goes on…

Sunday Club Rides can be anything from 3 hours to all day events, with the distance ranging from 80kms to 200+kms. The longer rides are special “Epic” events and visit such places as Mt. Baker, White Rock, Cultus Lake or Pemberton. Some require transport to an out of town start point and so they are always advertised well in advance on the CVC forum.

CVC Club Rides can be led by any CVC member who knows of a good and interesting route and wants to share it with the club. You don’t have to be super fit to lead a club ride, just know the route and be willing to give directions. If it’s a longer ride (ie over 100kms) and there is a good stopping point part way around along the route, then a fuel or coffee stop is usually welcomed.  (Please contact a CVC Exec member  if you would like to lead a ride…?)

Over and above all else, the Sunday Club Rides are the place to get out and enjoy riding with your fellow CVC members.

…and on wet weather Sundays, please ride your bike with the extended fenders!
